Abstract

(Abstracted from JAMA Pediatr 2023;177(1):16–24) Despite antismoking efforts, more than 10% of individuals in the United States smoke during pregnancy. This in utero smoke exposure affects more than 400,000 infants per year and puts them at risk for impaired fetal lung function, decreased airway function, and increased risk for wheeze and asthma.
