Workshop of the lexicographer: the first decades of the 20th century vocabulary in the working drafts of Dmitry Ushakov

Abstract

В статье предлагается обзор рабочих материалов Д. Н. Ушакова из архива РАН, отражающих работу ученого по сбору и осмыслению неологии 1900–1930-х гг. Записи лингвиста демонстрируют лексико-семантический прирост начала XX в. и модели словообразования, актуальные для этого периода. В черновиках Д. Н. Ушакова можно найти лексические и семантические неологизмы, этикетные формулы и коммуникативы, структурные штампы, универбаты, слова с суффиксом -аж-/-еж-, сложные слова и слоговые аббревиатуры. Делается предположение, что примеры, собранные лексикографом, существенно пополнили словник «Толкового словаря русского языка». The article deals with the overview of the Dmitry Ushakov working materials from the Archives of the Russian Science Academy, reflecting the work of the scientist in collecting and comprehending neology in the 1900s-1930s. The linguist’s notes demonstrate the lexico-semantic growth of the 20th century beginning and the word-formation models relevant for this period. In the Ushakov’s drafts one can find lexical and semantic neologisms, etiquette formulas and communicatives, structural clichés, univerbats, words with the suffix -аж-/-еж-, compound words and syllabic abbreviations. It is assumed that the examples collected by lexicographer, significantly replenished the vocabulary of the “Dictionary of the Russian Language”.
