Abstract

Novel anthraquinone-based cyclic antioxidants containing amino, thio and oxo groups were synthesized and their antioxidant capacity was determined by using the cerium(IV)-reducing antioxidant capacity (CERAC) assay. 1H, 13C NMR, FTIR-spectroscopy and ESI (Electrospray Ionization) mass spectrometry were used for the characterization of anthraquinone derivatives exhibiting CERAC antioxidant capacity.
