Beyond Coding: Regulations and Policies for Telephone/Audio-only Services

Abstract

This article reviews some of the regulations that practices should consider in developing policies and procedures for delivery, documentation, and reporting of telephone or other audio-only evaluation and management (E/M) services. Topics to consider include the following: Considerations for policy and procedures Securing the privacy of patient health information Preservice preparations for delivery and documentation of telephone services
