Abstract
This “From the Editors” article examines how technology enhances the sense and powers of rescuers and first responders (FRs) (the real-life heroes we all count on when disaster strikes). Ideas on how this can be made possible have been taken out of actual implementations, and prototypes (with references that include links to demo videos) are included. While the article focuses on human FRs, it also discusses the role of technology for animals in disaster response.
