The Main Approaches to Implementation of the Import Substitution Policy: Analysis and Lessons Learned

Abstract

The comparative analysis of approaches used in different countries of the world for implementation of the import substitution policy is carried out. The attention is focused mainly on comparing the specific features of the Latin American, East Asian and mixed models of import substitution. With regard to the Russian experience of transfer to such a policy, which has, to a greater extent, a coercive nature, the need to direct it towards the innovative development has been stated.
