Abstract
The article examines the use of the terms «rescuing» and «rescue» in legal documents regulating the safety of people on a water body. In this aspect, international law, Russian law and standardization documents are analyzed. It has been revealed that these terms are used to refer to different legal concepts, and unjustified mixing is allowed.
