Abstract

Background: Dental caries is caused by interaction between three factors; microorganisms (dental plaque), the host (teeth and saliva) and the substrate (fermentable carbohydrates). Tooth decay is highly associated with Streptococcus mutans . Chlorhexidine (CHX) is an effective chemotherapeutic agent in reducing S. mutans .
