Abstract

Unchecked antimicrobial resistance is lethal and carries a high economic burden on the global economy. Primary care is central to the success of health service antibiotic stewardship programmes, as most of these infections are managed in the community. This article examines a pioneering programme that aims to reduce resistance to antibiotics commonly used to treat lower urinary tract infections.
