Ingestion d’un nombre anormalement élevé de corps étrangers chez un homme souffrant de troubles mentaux

Abstract

La grande majorité des corps étrangers (CE) ingérés peut traverser le tube digestif sans incidence majeure. Dans certains cas, ils s’accumulent en grandes quantités dans l’estomac. Ils peuvent également perforer la paroi gastro-intestinale et migrer vers des sites extraluminaux, restant quiescents pendant de nombreuses années. Nous rapportons le cas d’un patient psychiatrique avec plus de 100 CE dans l’estomac.

The vast majority of ingested foreign bodies (FB) can pass through the digestive tract without major incidences. In some cases, they accumulate in large amounts in the stomach. They can also perforate the gastrointestinal wall and migrate to extraluminal sites, remaining quiescent for many years. We report a case of a psychiatric patient with more than 100 ingested FB in the stomach.
