Abstract

Aminohydroxylation of alkene is an important method for synthesizing 1,2-amino alcohols, which are found in natural products, pharmaceutically active compounds and several marketed drugs. Herein, we report the development of visible-light mediated copper-catalyzed aminohydroxylation and aminoalkoxylation of alkenes. In contrast to expensive iridium, ruthenium, or organic-dyes based photocatalysts, this protocol takes advantage of economical copper phenanthroline complex as a photocatalyst for the generation of N-centred radical from N-amino pyridinium salt.
