This review encompasses a wide spectrum of methodologies for identifying novel risk factors or biomarkers for CVD. Inflammation, oxidative stress, plaque instability, cardiac remodeling, and fibrosis play pivotal roles in CVD pathogenesis. Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the primary cause of mortality worldwide, underscoring the importance of identifying additional cardiovascular risk factors. The consensus is that lipid levels alone do not fully reflect the status of atherosclerosis, thus necessitating extensive research on cardiovascular biomarkers.
