Abstract
Introduction
The use of simulation-based education for technical skills training continues to be predominant in Latin America. International recommendations point out the importance of evaluating the quality of clinical simulation using validated instruments. This work aims to construct and validate an instrument to evaluate clinical simulation-based education when teaching technical skills in Argentina.
Methods
An observational, cross-sectional study was carried out with the participation of 197 nursing students from a private university in Argentina. The construction of the tool included a review of the literature, a definition of the construct, and the generation of items with their response categories. A group of experts participated for content validity. Finally, the construct validity and internal consistency of the tool were studied.
Results
The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin was 0.811 and Bartlett sphericity test was significant (x2 = 1183,287; < 0.001). The exploratory factor analysis determined the existence of two factors. The model explained 54,66% of the accumulated variance. The instrument presented excellent internal consistency with a McDonald's omega coefficient of 0,817 and a Cronbach's alpha of 0,823.
Conclusión
The developed tool presents adequate psychometric properties in nursing students from Argentina. It is a significant contribution to the evaluation of simulation-based education (SBE) for the training of technical skills.
