Under light exposure, rhenium(I)dipyrrinato complex facilitates formation of singlet oxygen, which acts as oxidant for the reactions. The rhenium(I)dipyrrinato complex efficiently catalyzes two distinct types of reactions in the presence of white LED and/or sunlight. The conversion of thioether into sulfoxides and photo-oxidative benzylamine coupling reactions works well under the sunlight/white LED with 97% products yield.
