Subsequent treatment of the resulting iodomethylates with bases yielded dimethylhydrazones of α,β-unsaturated enals or enones in high yields. Abstract
Dimethylhydrazones of β-dimethylaminomethyl-substituted carbonyl compounds treated with methyl iodide underwent chemoselective methylation at the trialkylamino group. Subsequent treatment of the resulting iodomethylates with bases yielded dimethylhydrazones of α,β-unsaturated enals or enones in high yields.
