Distinguishing stop-the-clock breaks from general extended time accommodations

Abstract

Testing accommodations can be a challenge to administer, especially when students take examinations in testing centers or non-classroom locations where proctors may or may not have sufficient pre-exam contact with an institution's disability services office. One common area of confusion is distinguishing accommodations of breaks during an exam (so-called stop-the-clock breaks) from extended time accommodations.
