Abstract

A coding error was discovered in the algorithm that sorted the data for the article by Grasso et al. (“The hunt for red tides: Deep learning algorithm forecasts shellfish toxicity at site scales in coastal Maine”; Ecosphere 10(12): e02960). This error led to incorrect forecast calculations. An updated model without this error has been used in a live version of the forecast; the accuracy of the corrected version is lower than the 95–99% levels reported in the article, and the prediction is only reliable at a one-week timescale, not two, but the corrected forecast has still been useful at lower accuracies (Record et al., 2022).
