Abstract

When 18F-FDG PET/CT is used to diagnose cardiovascular inflammation or infection, it is important to differentiate between pathologic and physiologic 18F-FDG myocardial uptake. Several methods to suppress physiologic 18F-FDG myocardial uptake have been reported, all based on the principle of promoting free fatty acid metabolism over glucose metabolism.
