[Anesthesiology : a little-known but necessary specialty for everyone].

Abstract

The field of anesthesiology is rapidly evolving and expanding. With the growth of perioperative medicine, anesthesiologists are now involved throughout the entire patient's surgical journey. In parallel, technological advances such as ultrasound and high-flow oxygen administration, as well as the introduction of new drugs, have driven innovation. In addition, existing guidelines are being reevaluated, requiring adjustments in daily clinical practice. For instance, fasting rules are becoming more flexible and the need for preoperative examinations is decreasing. This article aims to provide an update on the major advances in anesthesiology.
