Abstract
The beliefs and strategies to be mobilized by individuals who are about to start their activity as investors in financial markets have been an issue scarcely explored in the field of sociology of finance. In this paper we present new evidence about the opinions of future investors recurring to a survey administered to 177 Master students of financial markets. Our results highlight the structural incoherence in the values adopted by future investors and the centrality of these social actors’ beliefs in the constitution of the prevailing practices in financial markets.

CJSSP is an edited and peer-reviewed journal, published in yearly volumes of two issues. It publishes original academic articles, research notes, and reviews from sociology, social policy and related fields in English. The journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. With similar objectives we do not charge authors for the publication of their articles. Articles submission and processing is free of charge as well. Users can use and build upon the material published in the journal for non-commercial purposes.
