Abstract

Performance-based bridge management is key when large infrastructure assets are part of the portfolio. It is common practice that such critical structures are equipped with monitoring systems that deliver the necessary data for performance assessment. As there exists a major gap between the high-tech monitoring technology and the cost-oriented asset management, it becomes necessary to introduce systems that satisfy both ends. A technology to perform permanent structural health monitoring with an easily understandable interface to operators is presented in this paper.
