Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the enameling shear bond strength of two "one-bottle" adhesive systems and two systems using primer and bond separately. Four adhesive systems were examined: One-Step (Bisco), Prime & Bond (Dentsply), Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (3M) and Probond (Dentsply). Human molars were sectioned in half and divided into 5 groups with 9 specimens each. Adhesive systems were used following the manufacturer's directions, except for group IV, that only received the bond from ProBond. The teflon cylinder (3 mm diameter) was fixed over the surfaces to limit the area, and the matrix was filled with Z-100 (3M). Samples were stored in water at 37oC for 24 hours and thermocycled between 5 and 55oC at 700 cycles. A EZR-30 Wolpert Testing Machine was used to measure shear bond strengths. The analysis of variance and Tukey's tests were used to compare the various groups (p<0,05). There were significant statistical differences between the shear bond strength of two "one-bottle" adhesive systems and Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus.
