Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, most parents have been afraid to go to dental offices. They don’t feel safe to refer for visits and dental treatments; consequently, after passing one year, we see the prevalence rate of dental decay and increasing dental abscesses, and extraction of teeth which could be preserved by implementing good oral hygiene. At the time of the COVID-19 epidemic, we saw a dramatic drop in pediatric visits and dental treatments. In a telephone survey we had at the Sepideh Dental Clinic, most parents emphasized that did not want to risk their children’s lives, even if they had suffered from toothache or dental problems. Interestingly, the majority of patients who sought treatment had dental insurance that did not want their insurance period to be expired. We also found that patients who had previously undergone dental treatment and had not been referred for a routine visit, at present that they were referred for dental treatment, had experienced severe dental caries and dental abscesses. The reason for this was stated by the parents being at home and the excessive consumption of snacks and sweets, even if they brushed once a day [1].

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by the development of autoantibodies and immune complexes associated with a variety of clinical manifestations and tissue damage. SLE is the production of reactive antibodies against the body’s own cells. SLE is multifactorial and most likely involves complex interactions between genetic, environmental, and hormonal factors. There is an aging process in immune cells due to changes in the innate and adaptive immune system compartments. This phenomenon is known as Immunosenescence, also occurs on autoimmune. One of the characteristics of elderly people is their inability to respond to vaccines and infections properly.

In this study, patients wearing dental prostheses after implantation were constantly observed for their masticatory function to measure the amount of marginal bone loss obtained for 1 and2 years after mounting prostheses clinically, investigate the relationship between the amount of marginal bone loss occurring for a year after wearing prostheses and the gender, age, and scaling, and use the results as reference for performing implantation and determining prognosis.

Dental fear and anxiety lead to major obstacles and undesirable distresses such as avoidance of dental treatment [1]. Anxiety associated with the thought of visiting the dentist for preventive care and over dental procedures is referred to as dental anxiety. Fear is a reaction to a known or perceived threat or danger. It leads to a fight-or-flight situation. Dental fear is a reaction to threatening stimuli in dental situations. Children often are not able to deal with the threatening dental stimuli which manifest as behaviour management problems to the dentist.

In daily health care practice, it has been observed that there is a notable difference in the age at which the teeth erupt in patients, who do not comply with the established canons. This has sparked interest in the subject. Objective: to determine the changes in the order and chronology of the outbreak in the primary dentition at a national and international level.

Oral biofilm, an organized community comprises of extensive variety of microbes rooted with extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) matrix. It is recognized as a virulence factor to numerous oral infectious diseases including dental caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, periapical periodontitis and peri-implantitis [1]. Biofilm formation on medical devices such as mechanical heart valves, catheters, contact lenses and prosthetic joints pose a critical medical problem. Both gram positive and negative bacteria can form biofilms on medical devices. Medical device infections are accountable for almost 60% of hospital acquired infections. In the United States, the anticipated expense of caring for healthcare-associated infections is nearly between $28 billion and $45 billion each year [2]. The lifecycle of a conventional biofilm comprises of bacterial attachment, biofilm growth/maturation, and biofilm dispersion.
