The paper is focused on emotional abuse on both genders in intimate relationships as human insecurity, how it is being under-reported and perceived by many in the Nigerian society as an insignificant issue since it is not physical, and where many are advised to bear it in silence or even accused of being the cause of it most of the times. The study examines the signs, causes, and effects, which makes it a form of human insecurity. The study is anchored on Attachment Theory. Secondary data were employed in gathering information and content data analysis was used in analysing the data for the study. The paper concluded that emotional abuse is a reality that many are not accepting and that speaking out to the right people (such as talking to trusted family members, friends, associates and therapists) is the first and main strategy in which the problem can be solved.

The article examines the image of the Motherland in the poetry of the Kazakh famous poetess Fariza Ongarsynova. Here is revealed the connection of poetess’s poems with folklore works. It is argued that Mangystau, the poetess’s small homeland, is the source of her poetic inspiration. The idea is substantiated that the image of a small homeland occupies a special place in the work of the Kazakh poetess. It is also noted that the lyrical hero of the poetess's works feels like a part of his native land, its nature and destiny. Thanks to the study of the characteristic poetic feature of Fariza Ongarsynova, it is possible to recognize her poetic skill. Artistic individuality, ideological and thematic themes of poetry, contribution to the national artistic tradition, the corresponding place and figurative character occupied in modern Kazakh poetry will be studied.

This study is focused on describing the dependent variable phenomenon under study which is corporate performance. The study will evaluate the influences of capital structure and the dimensions towards the corporate performance of listed healthcare companies in Malaysia. The nature of the investigation is quantitative based correlation design, and the purpose of this investigation is to determine the existence of the relationship between debt to total asset ratio, debt to total equity ratio, and long-term debt ratio of capital structure with the corporate performance of listed healthcare companies in Malaysia. This study setting is non-contrived as there are no changes made in the study setting and it is merely collecting data from secondary resources. The data will be randomly selected from the company’s annual report. The sample size of this study is 24 listed healthcare companies in Malaysia from the year 2018 to the year 2020. To determine the influences of capital structure and the relationship towards corporate performance by using appropriate statistical techniques. The findings indicated that DAR, DER, and LDR had a statistically significant linear relationship on ROE; whereas DAR, DER and LDR had no significant linear relationship on ROA.

This study examines how organizational resources and competencies endow the competitive advantage. Often organizations align resources and capabilities to achieve their goal. Drawing on a resource-based view, we come to identify key resources that help the organization execute its business strategy and capture customer satisfaction. In four separate surveys, we firstly identify resources to execute a business plan. We examine those resources in a more elaborate survey to capture the most valuable resources. Further, customers’ satisfaction is also surveyed. Results show that at first customers value organizational resources. Second, when human resources are much clear, customers tend to favour human resources over organizational and physical resources. The implication of this discovery for the organization is also discussed.

The inclusion of job training and learning has recently been acknowledged as not only a key element of organizational initiatives to enhance learners' job readiness, but even as an organizational initiative to establish themselves in the marketable global education industry (Tran & Soejatminah, 2016). University students’ work-readiness continue to be a significant issue, with Mauritian industries lamenting a lack of soft skills and real-life experiences deemed necessary for recruitment. The University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) has completely adopted the Work Placement principles since 2014 to extend numerous options to its learners to offer relevant work experiences. The present study aims at exploring the role of the Work Placement experience among the students studying at the UTM. A survey was conducted using an online questionnaire among 230 participants to measure soft-skill development. Before and after the internship, descriptive statistics such as means, standard deviations, and varying scores were investigated using SPSS. The results reveal that students have a positive attitude toward the acquired skills and abilities through Work Placement. The majority of the students asserted that through their Work Placement experiences, they have acquired important soft skills and have become excellent team players and good communicators

Buying _____________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract This study aims to explore the major predictors of green purchase behavior in Mauritius, using an extension of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model by incorporating advertising and sales promotion as two new factors. A self-administered questionnaire using quota and judgmental sampling survey was conducted to collect data. Hundred and fifty respondents judged to be knowledgeable about environmentally friendly products were approached to participate in the survey. The findings reveal that Mauritians have a strong positive attitude towards the environment. Sales promotion, subjective norms, and attitude towards the environment are found to be significant determinants of green purchase intention. Perceived behavioral control and advertising were identified as not very significant variables. Results further show that there is not enough advertising done concerning green products in Mauritius. A positive relationship between green purchase intention and green purchase behavior was also identified. The results of this study can assist marketers and policymakers in developing more effective strategies when marketing green products in Mauritius to create better awareness and more acceptability of this emerging phenomenon that is a good part of sustainability development.

The present paper presents some important aspects concerning the syntactic configuration of Romanian, Italian, and French clausal adjuncts, as they appear in the articles from the present-day media. I have chosen two international magazines and three representative daily newspapers for each of the three languages. The elements investigated in this paper relate to the syntax-information structure interface, such as scrambling, interpolation, left dislocations, and these are going to be discussed, by comparison, for the complex sentences with temporal and causal adjuncts. Although there are authors arguing that French has a fixed word order (Manoliu, 2011, pp. 505-507, among others) or that “pro-drop languages” (Romanian and Italian) behave differently than “non-pro-drop” language (French) as concerns the relationship between information structure and word order, they are partly contradicted by the results of this analysis which brings evidence that, at least from this point of view, they are very similar. In the end, I conclude that all three Romance varieties have word order preferences and modified configurations, and they share many linguistic features, although French is more restrictive.

During the last 20 years, large-scale international assessments in education became part of international research. The increased number of countries participating in the international studies of PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS and translation of their assessment instruments in many languages of the world is accompanied by the request to ensure translation quality. Translation quality and its management became and are an important concern for the PISA, TIMMS, and PIRLS. The linguistics quality control centres have developed translation policies, standards, and procedures. This paper aims to present the translation policy and translation quality procedures implemented by PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS in the last 20-years. The paper is focused on the need for translation quality and illustrates how translation quality is implemented in practice. The paper is provided a high quality of translated instruments that has enabled the comparison of assessment results. The article also highlights PISA's, TIMSS's, and PIRLS's contribution to the development of translation quality theory and practice of the educational materials.

The aim of this paper is twofold: to examine how present-day detective novels reflect Britain’s geographic, social, and linguistic diversities in a way that perhaps no other single genre of fiction does, and to consider how this differs from those works that are generally regarded as the classic examples in this field. Current writing in this category exhibits various characteristics that distinguish these works from older works, and these features are reviewed and possible reasons for the recent diversification considered. However, attention is also paid to the fact that there are, nonetheless, modern works which seem to more closely follow the model of the ‘traditional’ detective story. It is possible that there are two distinct trends involved, which overlap in some areas to complement each other in terms of filling the various niches in the readership of detective fiction. This is essentially an empirical study, based on the author’s extensive reading of detective fiction, both classic and contemporary, over a number of years. Although much of this was originally done as a hobby, personal observation of the extremely wide-ranging nature of the modern British detective novel led to a desire to examine the diversity of the genre in detail.
