Let be a Banach space.In this paper the sufficient and necessary condi- tions for an elementary operator on () to be of finite rank or of rank one are obtained; a characterization of an abstract linear mapping on () to be a finite-rank elementary operator is given;and it is also shown that a linear interpolation of finitely many elemen- tary operators △ 1 ,…,△ k is still an elementary operator though it may not be a linear combi- nation of △ i 's.

The constant constraints in the conventional Hamiltonian reductions of WZNW model are generalized to the case of arbitrary chiral constraints.It is shown that the reduced model is equivalent to a conformal integrable system at both classical and quantum levels.It is also found that the use of chiral constraints is equivalent to the Hamihonian reduction of the product phase space of WZNW model and free fields.

Electromagnetic(EM) missile sources have so far been limited to the cases where the spatial distribution of current density is either a straight line or a circular disk or a rectangle. It may then be questioned whether an arbitrary linear current distribution or an arbitrary surface current distribution can be used as a launcher of the EM missiles. In this paper the above question is answered, and we have demonstrated that an arbitrary linear or an arbitrary surface current distribution of finite size has the ability to launch an EM missile, i. e. to realize slow decrease of electromagnetic energy on any axis so long as the axis has an intersection point with the source region, and in the neighborhood of this point the spatial distributions of the current are locally flat and perpendicular to the axis.

This paper reports systematically the crystal growth and photorefractive properties of Cu-doped KNSBN, and the mechanism of the Cu ions' effects on the photorefractive properties of KNSBN. The Cu ions doped in KNSBN can form two energy levels in the band gap, thus play important roles in the photorefractive process. They increase the effective electron combination center concentration, which results in the modification of the photorefractive properties of KNSBN. The two-wave coupling gain coefficient of KNSBN: Cu is two times greater than that of KNSBN. The photorefractive sensitivity of Cudoped KNSBN is estimated to be in the order of 10 -3 cm 2 /J. Its cat-SPPC reflectivity can reach 65% corresponding to an response time less than 8 s.
