Filterless all-normal dispersion fiber laser 无滤光片全向色散光纤激光器

We demonstrate mode-locked operation of an all-normal dispersion Yb-fiber oscillator without the use of bulk bandpass filter. A section of PM-fiber incorporated into the cavity acts as a filter, paving the way towards an all-fiber oscillator based on off-the-shelf components.

We show how it is possible to increase synthetically the numerical aperture of an interferometric imaging system using a 2D diffraction grating, thus improving the spatial resolution of the reconstructed images up to three times.

We demonstrate chalcogenide glass photonic crystal waveguides and their high optical nonlinearity, for the first time. Self-phase modulation and four-wave mixing are observed in a 400-mum-long device without two photon absorption.

The UV extraordinary optical transmission through nanoslit structures in the far-field and localized field enhancement in the near-field are both directly observed. Numerical modeling results are also presented, showing good agreement with the experiment results.

En route to the generation and attosecond control of intense single-cycle light pulses 在产生和阿秒控制强单周期光脉冲的过程中

Characterization of intense light pulses approaching the single-cycle regime is currently hindered by the limited resolution of available metrological techniques. However if attosecond sampling of the electric field (1) of such pulses is employed, access into the fine features of their waveform opens up new possibilities for precise temporal shaping and control. We demonstrate that due to this capability, we can tune ultrashort pulses with sub-cycle resolution and can temporally compress them down to 1.2 light field oscillations. Such pulses carry more 70% of their several hundreds of microjoule energy within only one field oscillation. We will discuss the impact of these tools in steering and controlling of electrons at light frequencies, giving rise to lightwave electronics (2), as well as, their novel applications for the generation of ultrashort intense bursts of light in the deep and the vacuum ultraviolet (3).
