A fast add-drop multiplexer based on the acousto-optic effect is demonstrated. The measured switching time is 61 mus, obtained with a fiber-horn structure arranged along the fiber axis.

Single-shot, real-time measurements of Gigahertz-bandwidth amplitude-and-phase continuous-time optical modulation waveforms are experimentally demonstrated.

Wavelength conversion over 90 nm around 1550 nm is demonstrated numerically through intermodal transition by uniformly tuning a proposed nested photonic crystal cavity. Discontinuity of the initial state and modal symmetry suppresses the adiabatic and multiple transitions.

There are many applications that require mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) dual-band focal plane arrays (FPAs). For example, a dual-band FPA camera would provide the accurate temperature of a target with unknown emissivity which is extremely important to the process of identifying objects based on their surface temperature. Dual-band infrared FPAs can also play many important roles in Earth and planetary remote sensing, astronomy, etc.
