The generation of waveform fluctuation for the enhancement of the quality of sustained vowels 波形波动的产生是为了提高持续元音的质量

It is indicated that the pitch-synchronous subtle waveform fluctuations of sustained vowels are the acoustic cue for the naturalness in case the sustained vowels do not include fundamental frequency fluctuations. From the viewpoint of speech synthesis, it is expected that the more naturally sounding sustained vowels can be synthesized by incorporating the appropriately modeled waveform fluctuations. In this study, the waveform fluctuations of the inverse-filtered normal sustained vowels were analyzed with the aim of high quality speech synthesis. The series of the analyses suggested that the waveform fluctuations could be modeled by the same rule for all speech samples obtained from ten male subjects. In addition, the psychoacoustic experiments confirmed the validity of the method which generates the completely artificial waveform fluctuations for the remarkable enhancement of the quality of sustained vowels.

In this paper we derive a new suboptimum multiuser receiver for CDMA signals in the presence of frequency-selective fading and narrowband interference. The proposed detector, which can be interpreted as a generalization of the decorrelating detector, achieves interference cancellation by projecting the received signal onto the orthogonal complement of the subspace spanned by the narrowband and multiaccess interference. As to the performance, we consider the case of Rayleigh-fading channel, showing that the new receiver largely outperforms the conventional decorrelating detector, especially in the presence of strong narrowband interferers, at the price of a little additional loss as no narrowband interference is active.

Determining optimum subband edges for signal compression 确定信号压缩的最佳子带边缘

The coding gain in subband coding, a popular technique for achieving signal compression, depends on how the input signal spectrum is decomposed into subbands. The optimality of such decomposition is conventionally addressed by designing appropriate filter banks. The issue of optimal decomposition of the input spectrum is addressed by choosing the set of band that, for a given number of bands, will achieve maximum coding gain. A set of necessary conditions for such optimality is derived, and an algorithm to determine the optimal band edges is then proposed. These band edges along with ideal filters, achieve the upper bound of coding gain for a given number of bands. It is shown that with ideal filters, as well as with realizable filters for some given effective length, such a decomposition system performs better than the conventional nonuniform binary tree-structured decomposition in some cases for AR sources as well as images.

A turbo/MAP decoder for use in satellite circuits 一种用于卫星电路的turbo/MAP解码器

The implementation and performance of a turbo/MAP decoder is described. A serial block MAP decoder operating in the logarithm domain is used to obtain a very high performance turbo decoder. Programmable gate arrays and EPROMs allow the decoder to be programmed for almost any code from 4 to 512 states, rate 1/3 to rate 1/7 (higher rates are achieved with puncturing), and interleaver block sizes to 65,536 bits. Seven decoding stages were implemented in parallel. For rate 1/3 and 1/7 16 state codes with an interleaver size of 65,536 bits and operating at up to 356 kbit/s the codec achieved an E/sub b//N/sub 0/ of 0.32 and -0.30 dB, respectively for a BER of 10/sup -5/. BERs down to 10/sup -7/ were also achieved for a small increase in E/sub b//N/sub 0/.

The discrete Fourier transform (DFT) has been proposed as a suitable technique for data transmission over channels that introduce impulse noise. However, in the presence of band-limited additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), the performance of DFT coding is degraded. This paper deals with techniques for single impulse correction and combating the detrimental effect of band-limited AWGN.

Minimum noise subspace: concepts and applications 最小噪声子空间:概念与应用

We present the concepts and some applications of the minimum noise subspace (MNS) technique. The MNS technique has been first introduced as a computationally efficient subspace technique which exploits a minimum number of noise vectors for multichannel blind system identification. It is shown that a noise subspace basis can be obtained in a parallel structure from a set of tuples (combinations) of system outputs that form a properly connected sequence (PCS). The technique of the MNS and particularly the concept of PCS turn out to be powerful tools that can be applied for number of array processing problems. To illustrate the potential of this technique, we present three successful applications related to the problems of blind system identification, source localization, and array calibration respectively.

A new approach to testing Gaussianity with the characteristic function 一种用特征函数检验高斯性的新方法

The use of an alternative to the kernel characteristic function estimator and empirical characteristic function based Gaussianity tests, has been proposed. It uses a smoothed difference function found by applying a smoothing kernel to the difference between the empirical characteristic function and the characteristic function under H/sub 0/. After an investigation into the choice of test statistics, an omnibus test is proposed that is powerful against a wide range of alternatives. Different test statistics are proposed to increase power against symmetric and/or asymmetric alternatives. Simulations are performed, confirming the increased power due to the smoothed difference function, as well as the rationale behind the choice of test statistics.

Software simulation and real-time implementation of acoustic echo cancelling 声回波消除的软件仿真与实时实现

Acoustic echo cancellation using various adaptive algorithms have been suggested by many researchers. A particularly interesting approach uses a new implementation of the LMS/Newton algorithm. It is reported that software simulations show good results of acoustic echo cancellation in a teleconferencing setup. Based on this new implementation of the LMS/Newton algorithm, software simulations and real-time implementation of acoustic echo cancellation in a teleconferencing-like environment are carried out. Software simulations are conducted to reconfirm the results presented previously and, also, to examine the effect of various involved parameters. A DSP card is used to carry out real-time realisation of the proposed LMS/Newton algorithm. Real-time realisation of the normalised LMS (NLMS) algorithm is also implemented for comparison.

Decision diagram based techniques for the Haar wavelet transform 基于决策图的Haar小波变换技术

This paper describes a new data structure called the "Haar Spectral Diagram" (or HSD) useful for representing the Haar spectrum of Boolean functions. An alternative ordering of Haar coefficients is used to represent the Haar transform matrix in terms of a Kronecker product yielding a natural decision-diagram based representation. The resulting graph is a point-decomposition of the Haar spectrum using "0-element" edge values. For incompletely specified functions, the Haar spectrum represented as an HSD is shown to require no more nodes than the ROBDD for the same function, and for completely specified functions, the HSD is shown to be isomorphic to the ROBDD.
