ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The Stories of Krishna is another valuable addition to the Indie Values Series from the Dharam Hinduja Institute of Indie Research in the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge. The book considers questions raised by the stories of Krishna and enables the reader to reflect on the relevance of these today. It does not attempt to be the final word on the subject, or to give one definitive 'version' of the Krishna stories. Indeed the reader is warned off this approach. The use of the ethnographic voices from interviews with members of the Hindu community in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK are a vital part of the book both in the first chapter and in the later text. Throughout the book the reader is challenged to ask the question, 'What does Krishna mean today?' and to engage with the stories.
