Biology is a subject that must be studied in high school, especially the science department. In this subject, students learn about living things in the context of science, ecosystem, technology, and society so that biological concepts can be implemented in social life. Matters related to the environment and technology such as climate issues, environmental destruction and reduction of germplasm or biodiversity, disease distribution, and bioterrorism are also related to biology. This subject requires student activity and critical development, but not all teachers are able to implement high-level thinking learning known as HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) in the teaching and learning process. This can be seen from the teaching materials provided by educators to students and the evaluation of learning used is still in the realm of knowledge (C1), understanding (C2) and application (C3) where exam questions are still included in the LOTS question type (lower). -Order Thinking Skill) is a type of question that only tests the ability of students in the lowest realm of Bloom's taxonomy.
