A model is developed which is subsequently linearized to form a state space model. The STATCOM control is based on modulation index and the phase angle control through pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. The controller parameters both for STATCOM and PSS are optimized using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm using an eigenvalue based objective function.
