An overview of design techniques for high frequency wide-band low noise amplifiers
Ultra-wideband low noise amplifiers are mostly used in modern wireless communication systems over narrowband amplifier because of the emerging 5G applications, where the bandwidth has dramatically increased compared with the previous 4G and LTE systems. Indeed, with the increased bandwidth, it is known that the design of amplifiers is getting more and more complicated. The main reason behind such complication is the enlarged noise figure since the noise of devices is directly proportional to the bandwidth. Another obstacle that faces designers is the high frequency of operation for most modern applications as this will increase the unwanted parasitic effects and thus complicate the circuit more. This review paper addresses the development of some of the commonly used techniques for the design of such wideband amplifiers.
