Patel Ismail Youssuf. Un bâtisseur de Coquilhatville. 1934-1969

Resume L'auteur presente une biographie d'un commercant pakistanais ou indien typique au Congo Belge et en Republique du Congo. Un homme affable, aux sensibilites sociales, fidele musulman, mais ouvert a tous ceux qu'il rencontre. Depart modeste et evolution lente mais significative, il devient vers l'Independance un des plus prosperes commercants de Coquilhatville. Deux temoignages dont celui de Bomboko, confirment l'image et replacent le protagoniste dans le contexte de l'apartheid regissant la colonie Belge dans les annees cinquante. Being a gracious man, with social sensitivities and a Moslem supporter he remained open to all those he met. After a modest departure and of a slow but significant evolution, he became toward the time of the Independence one of the most prosperous tradesmen of Coquilhatville. Two testimonies among them (the one of Bomboko), confirm the picture and replace the protagonist in the context of the apartheid governing the Belgian colony in the fifties.
