A descriptive design with a qualitative approach was used, framed in the phenomenological paradigm, a semi-structured interview was applied, with a duration of approximately 15 to 20 minutes, with an intentional convenience sampling, which justifies the selection of 20 relatives. of surgical patients recruited on the outskirts of a public hospital, where information saturation was reached. For the analysis of the data, a graph was prepared to represent the responses of the participants according to the categories previously established by the authors.
