Demonstration of half waveplate using polarization properties of a photonic crystal
We have constructed and experimentally tested a half waveplate based on the dispersive birefringent properties of a bulk two-dimensional photonic crystal away from its band gap. A polarization contrast better than 200:1 was measured.
