Based on this claim, this study sought to examine students’ concepts and the reasons associated with learners’ alternative conceptions relative to change of state of matter. This study employed the survey design hinged on retrospective and prospective paradigms. A sample of 240 final year (Form 3) science students were randomly selected from five senior high schools located within the Cape Coast Metropolitan area, Ghana to participate in this research. The findings revealed that about three-quarters of the students held varied alternative conceptions on change of state of matter. Additionally, the results indicated that a number of reasons underpin why learners hold alternative conceptions of change of state of matter. For instance, students hold the alternative conception that temperature changes during phase transition and are also unable to interpret the numerical representation of the change of state of matter. It was, therefore, recommended that teachers should develop activities aimed at leading students to the development of scientifically correct conceptions thereby helping them correct their alternative conceptions. 摘要

这篇文章基于这样一个论断,即学生的观念极大地影响了他们对概念的掌握程度。基于这一主张,本研究试图考察学生的概念以及与学习者相对于物质状态变化的替代概念相关的原因。本研究采用回顾性调查和前瞻性调查相结合的调查设计。我们从加纳海岸角都市区内的五所高中随机抽取了240名理科学生参加本研究。调查结果显示,大约四分之三的学生对物质状态的变化持有不同的观点。此外,结果表明,一些原因支撑了为什么学习者持有物质状态变化的替代概念。例如,学生持有相变过程中温度变化的替代概念,也无法解释物质状态变化的数值表示。因此,建议教师开展活动,引导学生发展科学正确的观念,从而帮助他们纠正自己的另类观念。关键词:另类观念;变化:物质状态的变化;正确的观念;潜热;高中生
