The novel finding in this research work is the operation of Spark gap in co-ordination with Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) during various internal fault conditions, according to the threshold energy which contradicts the assumptions made in some of the previous research works. For increasing the power capacity and meeting the rising power demands, it is implemented on 400 kV double circuit Raipur - Wardha Line (375 km). This paper focuses on the effects of FSC on the specified line studied by comparing simulated results with real time data.
