Based on the performed investigations, it was established that the usage of protective coatings provide a decrease of the residual stresses after welding. This is due to the slower cooling of the welded joint metal than after welding without protective coating. In this case, the less factor of thermal diffusivity of protective coating, the lower residual stress after welding.
