Time-domain diffraction phenomena simulation for subsurface electromagnetic sounding
This paper presents a 2-D scalar numerical time-domain model with evident physical meaning for simulation of electromagnetic diffraction in the act of electromagnetic sounding implemented by ground-penetrating microwave radar. The data obtained as a result of the radar survey should be interpreted for detection, discrimination and location of hidden objects caused scattering phenomena. The proposed approach allows consideration of the basic physical principles, governing these physical events to form an electromagnetic image of the subsurface region with simulated radar returns. It can also be applied to real radar image processing.
