It came into operation in 1936. Since 1977 is part of National Heritage and it is still an essential transport infrastructure. As this bridge has been monitored in 2016 installing a network of standard sensors (DCDT, LVDT, strain gauges and extensometers) it has been a good case study for assessing the relatively new monitoring technology of ground-based radar interferometry.
