Genealogia, migracje a długie trwanie

The article discusses the basic methods and sources that can be used in the study of genealogy, taking into account the phenomena of mobility and migration. The specificity of the spatial and social mobility of the lower strata of the Old Polish society was presented. Despite the restrictions related to serfdom, the population made generally short movements, sometimes permanent in nature. It was mainly due to economic reasons related to the labor market. Moreover, attention has been paid to the durability of surnames and to how migration influenced their formation.
