Its versatile nature makes PEEK very popular in a variety of medical devices. The purpose of this article is to summarize the medical applications of PEEK in following fields: cranioplasty, dental implants, interbody fusion, joint replacements, soft-tissue repairs, and cardiac surgery. PEEK, as a biocompatible polymer, has been used in fields related to tissue fixation and reconstruction. This is largely due to its superior mechanical characteristics and biocompatibility.
