FASTAR is expected to reduce by orders of magnitude the average service outage time that customers experience as a result of transmission failures. The FASTAR architecture combines centralized and distributed intelligence to provide full automation of the three major categories of restoration operations, alarm gathering and reporting, path implementation, and path assurance.
