The main directions of modern research on the subject are based on the application of Fuzzy Logic, Particle Swarm Optimization and artificial neural networks. The paper presents a built up mathematical model for defining the optimal value of the power factor of synchronous motors by applying the mathematical theory of experimental design. The independent variables, influencing the evaluated parameter are selected. An adequate mathematical model has been obtained, by means of which the optimal value of the power factor of synchronous motors in operating conditions is found.
