POPULISMO NO BRASIL CONTEMPORÂNEO: UMA ANÁLISE DE DISCURSOS DE LULA E DE BOLSONARO

This paper seeks to verify the emergence of populist discourses in contemporary Brazil. Thus, parts of two statements made by two political leaders will be analyzed: 1) the speech of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva on the day of his arrest, on April 7, 2018; and 2) the launch speech of the candidate Jair Messias Bolsonaro to the presidency of the Republic, on July 22, 2018. The read plan will be centered on textual elements considered populist. Thus, initially the concept of populism will be analized under different theoretical dimensions, that is, the dimension that sees the populist phenomenon as an ideology (Mudde, 2017) and the dimension that sees in populism a discursive strategy (Laclau, 2013). With the designation of textual elements that can be considered as "populist", we will verify the way in which populist language is manifested in political discourse. In addition, the article briefly mentions cases of populist around the world and, in more detail, analyzes the political, economic and social conjuncture of Brazil to relate the recent crisis to the political language of popular political actors.
