Effect of Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on Retinopathy of Prematurity in Preterm Newborns: A Comparative Analysis with Mechanical Ventilation and High-Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), originally described as retrolental fibroplasia, represents an abnormal growth of blood vessels in the premature retina that can occur in response to oxygen therapy. The association between ROP and invasive mechanical ventilation has been widely studied in the literature; however, the relationships between different types of ventilation and ROP have not been as well documented. This study aimed to compare the association of ROP incidence with mechanical ventilation (MV), nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP), and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapies in 130 pre-term infants with gestational ages <32 weeks.
期刊介绍:
ACS Applied Bio Materials is an interdisciplinary journal publishing original research covering all aspects of biomaterials and biointerfaces including and beyond the traditional biosensing, biomedical and therapeutic applications.
The journal is devoted to reports of new and original experimental and theoretical research of an applied nature that integrates knowledge in the areas of materials, engineering, physics, bioscience, and chemistry into important bio applications. The journal is specifically interested in work that addresses the relationship between structure and function and assesses the stability and degradation of materials under relevant environmental and biological conditions.
