He did not know whether there was any theatrical manager in the audience that evening, but he remembered some twenty-five or thirty years ago a theatrical manager, whose name was highly respected by everybody in this country, writing a book which took the form of letters to his son. One of those letters was on getting married, and this theatrical manager, clearly writing from his own experience, told his son not to pay any attention to flirtations of his wife with other men but to watch the women with whom she associated, whether they were young or old. That touched upon an aspect of the matter mentioned by Mrs. Normanton.
