Contraception counseling and provision at the time of abortion care are important components to improve contraceptive access and convenience for people undergoing abortion care. The majority of hormonal and barrier contraceptive methods may be safely initiated at the time of medication or procedural abortion or shortly thereafter, although delayed initiation may be necessary in certain circumstances.
