The interdisciplinary nature of both analytical chemistry and nanotechnology is emphasized. This requires joining the efforts of different fields, e.g. chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, biology, materials science engineering, to face with guarantee the challenges that arise on different fronts. Some notes about nanomaterials and nanoparticles of interest in the bioanalytical and pharmaceutical context are commented. When it comes to therapeutic agents, nanomedicines help overcome the solubility, permeability, bioavailability, and toxicity limitations of conventional approaches, opening the door to precision therapies and personalized medicine.
