In this paper, we describe human centered design of pharmacogenomic (PGx) clinical decision support (CDS) systems. Operationalizing PGx-based care is a relatively new endeavor, and the complexity of this clinical space requires adapting human factors techniques to fashion usable designs. We had to consider multiple design tradeoffs including whether to group medications by drug class. In this article, we provide additional design tradeoff considerations and lessons learned.
